Neurodiversity in the Academy

Spring 2020

As part of our ongoing Inclusive Pedagogy programming, we invite you to join us for a semester-long discussion of various texts that engage with neurodiversity in the academy. Neurodiversity, or neurological diversity, acknowledges that learning differences does not diminish personhood and recognizes neurological variations are an essential part of humanity (Bailian 2019). Our group will explore the concept of neurodiversity, familiarize ourselves with the neurodiversity movement, discuss the state of the field as well as the debates, and learn about resources and strategies to better serve neurodiverse students. Our aim in these discussion sessions is to help faculty, staff, and graduate students attain the tools needed to create more inclusive classrooms and support a wide range of students.

Space is limited. Applicants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
